The LEMAS 4TR Series capacity ranges from 3′ to 10′ in length, and up to 5/8″ thick.

LEMAS 4-Roll double-pinch bending rolls feature hydraulic adjustment of the two bending rolls and the lower pinch roll with separate convenient pinch pressure adjustment.

In addition, both bending rolls are hydraulically tiltable for cone rolling, and the hydraulic drop end makes removing the completed cylinder from the rolls simple.

4-Roll Double Pinch

Holds the plate on both sides of centre, so both edges pre-bend without flipping the plate.

Rolling Capacity

3′ – 10′ × 5/8″

Across the series, rolling lengths from 3′ to 10′ in material up to 5/8″ thick, rated at 36,000 PSI yield. Capacity varies by model.

Standard Rolling Diameter

3–4 × Roll Dia.

At full plate width, standard rolling diameter is roughly 3 to 4× the top roll diameter of the model selected.

Standard Features

Double-pinch design
Four rolls hold the plate on both sides of centre, so the leading and trailing edges pre-bend in one setup — no removing and flipping the plate end for end.
Direct-drive design
No belts or chains in the drive train — less to tension, wear, or replace, and power reaches the rolls without slip.
Hydraulic drop end
The drop end opens hydraulically so a finished cylinder slides straight off instead of being levered free.
Driven upper and lower pinch rolls
Both pinch rolls drive the plate, so material feeds under power throughout the bend rather than being pulled through.
Sumitomo Cyclo® 6000 reducers
Gearless speed reducers keep two-thirds of their gears in contact at all times, absorbing shock loads beyond 500% of rating.
Walk-alongside control panel
The control panel rolls on wheels and carries forward/reverse rotation controls, so the operator can work from wherever the part demands instead of being tied to one station.
Delivered ready to run
Ships with hydraulic oil, tools, technical manual and schematics, plus an emergency stop cable and manual tilt of the lower pinch roll.

Do all 4TR Series models share the same features?

Yes. Every machine in the 4TR Series carries the same standard feature set — double-pinch design, direct drive, power cone rolling on both bending rolls, hydraulic drop end, hardened rolls, and Sumitomo reducers. The models differ in rolling length and thickness capacity, not capability.

What does double-pinch mean?

The lower pinch roll and both bending rolls adjust hydraulically, with pinch pressure adjusted separately. The plate is held on both sides of centre throughout the bend, which is what allows both edges to be pre-bent without flipping the plate.

Is a four-roll machine worth the extra cost over a three-roll?

It depends on volume and tolerance. Four-roll removes a handling step on every part and produces squarer edges with less flat spot, so it pays back fastest in production rolling. For occasional or varied one-off work, a three-roll TR Series is usually the better value.

What is the difference between four-roll and three-roll plate bending rolls?

A four-roll machine like the 4TR Series grips the plate between two pinch rolls, so it pre-bends the leading and trailing edges without removing and flipping the plate. A three-roll pinches between an upper and lower roll and bends with a third. Four-roll reduces handling, flat spots, and setup time, which matters most at higher volumes and tighter tolerances.

Can the 4TR Series roll cones?

Yes — and on the four-roll, both bending rolls tilt hydraulically for cone rolling, with the cone bending attachment integrated as standard.

Do LEMAS rolls need belt or chain maintenance?

No. LEMAS uses a direct-drive design with no belts or chains, along with Sumitomo Cyclo® 6000 gearless speed reducers, which reduces routine maintenance and eliminates belt slip.

How do you remove a finished cylinder?

A hydraulically operated drop end opens so the finished cylinder slides straight off the rolls, rather than being levered or lifted out.

How hard are the rolls?

All rolls are heat treated to 50 Rc and run on spherical roller bearings on every roll.

Where are the machine controls located?

On a control panel mounted on wheels, with digital readouts for the position of both side bending rolls, plus forward and reverse rotation controls so the operator can move around the machine while it runs.

Can options be added to a machine already in stock?

Variable speed control can be added to a machine already in stock. Extra digital readouts, front support arms with squaring, hydraulic top support, and custom roll crowning are factory-order options.

Can I get custom rolls?

Yes. Custom roll diameters, lengths, and shapes are available, including grooves and hardened rings for rolling flanged plate.
