Punched steel connection plates produced on a Sunrise APS plate processing machine
Sunrise APS Series

Automatic Plate Processing System

The Sunrise Automatic Plate System – APS –  is a fully automatic plate processing machine that delivers unparalleled efficiency and precision for flat bar up to 12″ x 3/4″.

Built for fabricators producing flat-bar and plate parts in volume — base plates, connection plates, buss bar, washers, support posts, and ladders. It punches and shears flat bar up to 12″ × ¾″ with no slug loss, automatically squares material, and pulls part files over DXF/NC1 via WiFi/Ethernet or offline software — so layouts move from the office to the shop floor with less manual handling.

APS:Operation

Step 1

Load

Flat bar loads onto the all-steel in-feed rollers — 20′ standard, expandable to 50′.

Step 2

Feed

The rack-and-pinion drive advances the bar as pneumatic grippers clamp and square it automatically.

Step 3

Punch & Shear

Holes are punched and the bar is sheared to length — square, with no slug.

Step 4

Finished Part

Repeatable, square plate parts come off ready for the next operation, with minimal operator handling.

User-friendly controls, an integrated safety frame, and intuitive interfaces make the APS one of the safest systems in its class — with minimal operator training required.

APS:Features

Standard Features

  • Automatic clamping & squaring

The system clamps and squares every bar before it’s punched or sheared, so hole patterns stay true down the length of the bar without an operator babysitting the material. Hydraulic hold-downs for the punch and shear firmly clamp the material during operation.

  • Fully guarded work zone

Punching and shearing run inside a fully enclosed and safety interlocked frame, keeping operators clear of the tooling while the line is in production. Multiple emergency-stops surround the entire machine and in-feed. Wide doors allow quick and easy access to change tooling, or service the machine.

  • Integrated hydraulic oil cooling

An onboard cooler holds oil temperature steady through long runs, and multiple fans keep the cabin cool, so punch performance stays consistent from the first part of the shift to the last.

  • Office-to-floor file flow

Detailing output drops straight into the machine — use the included off-line software to fully build your nest, or import DXF/NC1 or Tekla files by WiFi, USB, or ethernet, and nest them right at the control, with no manual re-entry of hole patterns or lengths.

  • Remote diagnostics & lifetime support

TeamViewer lets a Trilogy technician see the control screen and work through an issue with your operator in real time — often resolving it without a service visit. Schematics, operation and parts manuals, and more are securely stored for quick access now or in the future.

  • Anti-twist plate support & guide rollers

Anti-twist support holds the bar flat through the cut so parts come off square rather than dished, and adjustable guide rollers keep material tracking straight down the full length of the in-feed.

Optional Features

  • Triple-punch head

Adds a 1.5″ center punch plus two 1.125″ side punches, each individually controlled, for shops punching multi-hole patterns in a single hit instead of indexing between holes.

  • Dot-peen marking

Marks permanent part numbers and layout marks in-line, so pieces arrive at assembly already identified and no one is hand-marking parts downstream.

    Watch the dot-peen marking
  • Extended in-feed sections

Additional machined-steel in-feed sections enable the line to process 50′ lengths, letting you run full stock lengths without cutting material down first. The rack and pinion drive system firmly clamps the material and holds accuracy during the entire run, never letting go until the part is finished.

  • Multi-seat software license

Adds offline layout seats so detailers can build and nest programs at their own desks instead of queuing at the machine control.

  • Light curtain safety system

An optical safety barrier around the work zone stops the machine if anything breaks the plane, for shops that want guarding beyond the standard enclosure.

APS:Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the U.S. distributor for Sunrise plate processing machines?
Trilogy Machinery is the exclusive United States importer and distributor for Sunrise, supported by a nationwide network of dealers. Trilogy provides U.S.-based sales, stocked OEM parts, factory-authorized service, and lifetime phone/email technical support from Belcamp, Maryland.
Where can I buy a Sunrise APS in the United States?
Sunrise plate processing lines are imported and distributed exclusively in the U.S. by Trilogy Machinery in Belcamp, Maryland, and are sold and supported through Trilogy’s nationwide network of dealers.
What is a CNC plate processing machine?
An automated machine that punches and shears flat bar and plate to length directly from a part file, replacing manual layout, drilling, and saw cutting.
What size flat bar can the APS process?
Flat bar from 2″ × ¼″ up to 12″ × ¾″ — covering base plates, connection plates, buss bar, washers, support posts, and ladders.
Can the APS process copper, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals?
Yes. In addition to structural steel, the APS punches and shears copper and aluminum flat bar — commonly used for buss bar in electrical and power distribution work — along with other non-ferrous material within the same size range.
How large a hole can the APS punch?
Up to a 2″ round hole in ½″ material at 65,000 PSI. An optional triple-punch head adds a 1.5″ center punch and two 1.125″ side punches, each individually controlled.
Does the shear leave a slug?
No. The APS shears to length with no slug loss, and anti-twist support keeps cuts square — dropping only about 6″ of end scrap per run.
Can it import DXF or NC1 files?
Yes. DXF and NC1 files import over WiFi, USB, or ethernet, and included offline layout software lets detailers build nests away from the machine (a multi-seat license is available).
What support and warranty come with the APS?
Each APS carries an on-site parts & labor warranty of 2 years or 2,500 working hours, plus lifetime technical support by phone and email. OEM parts and factory-trained technicians are based in Belcamp, Maryland.
How does the APS compare to manual layout and drilling?
It consolidates measuring, marking, punching, and cutting into one automated pass, reducing labor and handling per part and improving hole-pattern consistency on repeat work.
Is a light curtain available?
Yes. A light curtain safety system is offered as an option, in addition to the standard fully enclosed and interlocked punching and shearing station.
